Volunteer Opportunities
Animal Care
Work alongside our Animal Care team to support the daily needs of our wildlife. Tasks include preparing diets, cleaning enclosures, and carrying supplies.
This role requires outdoor work in all weather, the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and a current tetanus vaccination (rabies vaccination preferred). Shifts are available Mondays and Thursdays, 8 AM–2 PM.

Wildlife Rescue/Transport
Rescue and Transport volunteers are on the front lines, helping injured wildlife by bringing them to our facility for medical care and post-assessment support. Transport volunteers assist by moving animals contained by other rescuers, organizations, or members of the public.
Rescue volunteers are responsible for safely capturing animals before transport. Volunteers use their personal vehicles and must provide proof of insurance and a valid driver’s license. Rescues happen 24/7, 365 days a year, so schedules are flexible and based on both need and your availability.
Training and support are provided. Transport volunteers receive a crate and towels. Rescue volunteers also receive a crate and towels but must supply their own rescue equipment and have pre-exposure rabies vaccinations.

Education- Special Events
Support our Education Team during on-site events throughout the year. Volunteers assist with setup, cleanup, guest check-in, activity stations, and engaging with the public. This role is a great option for those with limited availability.
No long-term commitment is required. Volunteers sign up as their schedule allows, with on-the-spot training provided at each event.

Education- Tour Guide
Share the wonder of Arizona’s native animals with visitors of all ages. As a tour guide, you’ll lead tours, answer questions, and help guests connect with the animals and our mission. This is a hands-on opportunity to inspire curiosity, foster wildlife coexistence, and be part of a passionate team dedicated to education and conservation.

Vet Clinic
Veterinary Clinic volunteers assist our medical team in providing care for injured, orphaned, and rehabilitating wildlife. Tasks may include preparing animal enclosures, cleaning and organizing supplies, and supporting medical staff with daily clinic operations.

Grounds Quality
Grounds Quality volunteers help keep Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center safe, clean, and welcoming for both animals and visitors. Tasks may include landscaping, general repairs, cleaning, and assisting with habitat improvements.
This role is hands-on, physically active, and essential to the daily care of our wildlife and the smooth operation of the sanctuary.
