Southwest Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Foundation (SWREF) values
you and respects your privacy and trust. We do not take this trust for
granted and recognize that we must maintain and use your information responsibly.
The information that we collect from you is only to communicate with you
and to process your donation. We do not sell or rent the information you
provide to us to any third parties. We only share your information with
the bank, via a telephone call, in order to process your credit card donation.
The southwestwildlife.org website takes every precaution to protect your
information. When you submit sensitive information via our website, your
information is protected both online and off-line.
We use Mal's E-Commerce for our shopping cart (donation) system, which
resides on a server that is protected with the best encryption software
in the industry - SSL. Your secure data is held in our password protected
account, on their server. Once we gather this information from our account
it is deleted from their server. Please visit www.mals-e.com,
if you have any further questions about Mal's E-Commerce or if you would
like to view their privacy policy.
While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online, we
also do everything in our power to protect your information off-line. All
of your information is restricted; only the donations focal of SWREF, Geri
Dury, will have access to your information.
Following is more detail on the process
of your donation:
First: You begin
the donation process by entering the amount in the box above
and pressing the “Make Donation”button. This
will take you to the SWREF section on the Mals-e server.
(Notice the web address changes to "http://ww7.aitsafe.com")
Second: A summary of your
donation amount is shown and at this point you have a chance to change
your amount or continue with your donation.
Third: Next,
you are asked to enter in your contact information, name, address,
etc. This information needs to match that which
is on record with your credit card company. Note: your contact
information is not collected while on a secure connection; so if this
is of concern to you, please contact
us, so that we can collect your information in a manner that is
more acceptable to you.
Fourth: The
next page is a summary of your donation amount and your contact information,
followed by the message that you will be making your donation by credit
card. The “Continue”button on this page then takes you
to a secure page where you can then safely enter your credit card information.
There are a couple ways you will know that you are on a secure server:
1) A window will pop up telling you that
you are entering a secure page.
2) While on a secure page the lock icon on the bottom of Web browsers
such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes locked
(as opposed to unlocked, or open, when you are just 'surfing').
Some versions of browsers and some firewalls
do not permit communication through secure
servers. In that case, you will be unable to
mistakenly make a donation through an unsecured
connection. If you cannot access the secure
server for any reason, please email
us so that we can contact you via telephone. Never
send sensitive information, like credit card
numbers, via a standard email.
Fifth: After you have entered your credit card information, it is held
in our password protected account, on the Mals-e server and we are notified
by e-mail that a donation has been made. The notification e-mail that we
receive contains none of the information that you have entered. It only
lets us know that you have made a donation.
Sixth: Finally, Geri Dury logs onto the password protected and SSL secure
server at Mals-e, to view the information you have submitted. At this point
Geri Dury telephones the bank and provides them with your credit card information
in order to process your donation. Once Geri has relayed your credit
card information to the bank, she deletes your information from the Mals
secure server.
